Alwood Wins Contract in South Africa

The company will fit out a luxury hotel and apartments in time for the World Cup

Alwood has won a major contract to supply kitchens, bedrooms and other bespoke furniture to a new luxury waterfront development in Knysna, near Capetown, South Africa.

Raymond Acheson, Managing Director of Euro Construction, the company building the development, said: ‘We awarded the contract to Alwood on the basis of past performance. Not only is Alwood one of the few companies with the capability to cope with such a large project, but the quality of their products and craftsmanship are second to none.’

The new development – a 120 room hotel, 154 new apartments and a number of commercial units – is also good news for the area, creating jobs and encouraging tourism to this beautiful part of the world. The race is on to finish the development before the World Cup kicks off in South Africa in 2010.

Wilson Briggs Meets Archbishop Tutu

While in Capetown, Wilson Briggs met Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Of the meeting, Wilson commented, ‘the Archbishop is a very special person, and after only a few minutes in his company, it’s easy to see why this humble man was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was also very knowledgeable about Northern Ireland and says he enjoys seeing photos of Mr Paisley and Mr McGuinness together!’
